“The First Night with the Duke” is heating up as it enters its second half!
“The First Night with the Duke” is a fantasy romance drama about an ordinary college student whose soul is transported into a minor character in a romance novel, Cha Sun Chaek (Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun). After waking up in the world of the novel, she ends up spending the night with the obsessive male lead, Yi Beon (2PM’s Taecyeon).

With Cha Sun Chaek finally accepting Yi Beon’s feelings, the drama sets the stage for two major plotlines to unfold:
1. Cha Sun Chaek’s father’s opposition to their relationship
A looming crisis is her father Cha Ho Yeol’s (Seo Hyun Chul) strong opposition to her marriage with Yi Beon. Known as a loving father, Cha Ho Yeol sided with his daughter and tried to stop Yi Beon’s relentless pursuit after their first night together. Even for Yi Beon, who has been pushing forward without brakes, the opposition of Cha Sun Chaek’s family elders is not something he can easily ignore.
However, now with Cha Sun Chaek deciding to embrace Yi Beon’s sincerity and become his heroine rather than remain a side character, her father’s opposition is a hurdle they must face together. His objection doesn’t come from disliking Yi Beon, but from wanting his daughter to live a peaceful life far from royal power struggles and gossip—making him even harder to persuade. Will they be able to change his mind and move forward with their wedding?
2. Jung Soo Gyeom’s one-sided love
Another key storyline is the unrequited love of second male lead Jung Soo Gyeom (Seo Bum June), who has fallen for the novel’s original female lead Jo Eun Ae (Kwon Han Sol). During a drinking game arranged by Cha Sun Chaek, Soo Gyeom became heavily drunk, and when he was about to drink another penalty shot, Jo Eun Ae stepped in to drink it for him, capturing his heart in an instant.
Since then, Soo Gyeom has shyly confessed his feelings for Jo Eun Ae to Cha Sun Chaek and even grabbed Yi Beon by the collar in tears upon learning Jo Eun Ae would be entering the royal selection to become Yi Beon’s bride. How will Soo Gyeom’s tearful, one-sided love story end?
