Channel A’s upcoming drama “My Lovely Journey” has unveiled the first stills of Kim Jae Young in character!
Based on a bestselling Japanese novel by Maha Harada, “My Lovely Journey” follows Kang Yeo Reum (Gong Seung Yeon), a former idol-turned-travel reporter who has never been the center of attention in her life. As she takes on travel assignments on behalf of others, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery, coming to understand the true meaning of success and life.
Kim Jae Young plays Lee Yeon Seok, an aspiring film director. Once a top student who graduated from a prestigious university’s engineering program and landed a job at a major company, Yeon Seok seemed to be on an elite path. However, he suddenly quit his stable job to enroll in film school and chase his true passion. Now in his second year of working on a feature-length script, he remains stuck in a severe creative slump, unable to write a single line, and spends his days juggling various part-time jobs in editing and filming to make ends meet. One day, he starts editing travel videos for reporter Kang Yeo Reum, leading to an unexpected connection. Though he comes across as cold and prickly at first, Yeon Seok gradually reveals his gentle and thoughtful side.
The newly released stills instantly capture Yeon Seok’s layered charms: prickly yet sensitive, indifferent yet warm. In one photo, he is on the phone with someone, his eyes serious and lost in thought, hinting at the depth and complexity of his character.
Another still shows Yeon Seok standing on a stairwell with his staff ID around his neck, reflecting his current reality. As he works part-time as a broadcasting editing assistant while pursuing his dream of becoming a director, his solitary figure gazing out the window evokes a quiet sense of loneliness.
In the final still, Yeon Seok stands leaning against a car under the bright sun. With his arms crossed and a faint smile on his face, he exudes a calm and gentle vibe, contrasting his previous sharpness and highlighting his hidden warmth.
The production team shared, “Kim Jae Young perfectly understood the multifaceted charms of Lee Yeon Seok and portrayed them in his own colors. Though Yeon Seok may appear cold and prickly on the outside, viewers will get to see his true warm-hearted and artistic nature through Kim Jae Young’s nuanced acting.” They added, “Especially the way Yeon Seok looks at Yeo Reum and how he comforts her will bring both excitement and emotion to viewers. Please look forward to it.”
