JTBC’s upcoming drama “The Nice Guy” has released individual character posters!
“The Nice Guy” is a noir drama that follows Park Seok Chul (Lee Dong Wook), the eldest grandson of a third-generation gangster family with an unexpectedly pure heart, and his first love Kang Mi Young (Lee Sung Kyung), a woman who dreams of becoming a singer.
With just one week left until the first broadcast, the newly released character posters pique curiosity by depicting Park Seok Chul, Kang Mi Young, Kang Tae Hoon (Park Hoon), Park Seok Kyung (Oh Na Ra), and Park Seok Hee (Ryu Hye Young) as they struggle to find better versions of themselves despite the heavy burdens of reality.
First, the loneliness of Park Seok Chul, a former gangster who once dreamed of becoming a poet, hints at the difficult path he has walked. Forced into the gangster life to make ends meet, Park Seok Chul has endured more steadfastly than anyone. But the moment he decides to turn his life around, he fatefully reunites with his first love Kang Mi Young, plunging his life into a whirlwind.
Kang Mi Young’s wistful gaze as she sings with all her heart also draws attention. Despite being weighed down by harsh realities and struggling with crippling stage fright, Kang Mi Young has never once given up on her dream of becoming a singer. Viewers are left wondering how her long-awaited, heartfelt reunion with Park Seok Chul will change the course of her life.
The aura of Kang Tae Hoon, the boss of Samjun Construction—the rival of Myungsan Industries where Park Seok Chul works—is also striking. Having once belonged to the same organization as Park Seok Chul, Kang Tae Hoon finds himself instantly captivated by Kang Mi Young, setting the stage for a precarious love triangle with Park Seok Chul.
The character poster for Park Seok Kyung, the troublemaker of the Park Seok Chul family, is equally intriguing. After failing in both marriage and business, Park Seok Kyung turns to gambling, only to end up with nothing but debt. Dragged back home by her younger siblings, the emptiness on her face as she rests her chin in her hand hints at the hardships she has endured.
The troubled facial expression on the youngest sibling Park Seok Hee suggests that significant changes are coming to her life. As a nurse, Park Seok Hee is known for her competence and upright character, making her the pride of the family.
The production team commented, “Each character has their own unique dreams and stories, and even though the realities they face may be overwhelming and painful, they continue to move forward in search of better selves. Please look forward to the emotional synergy of the actors, which will add depth and relatability to their journeys.”
“The Nice Guy” is set to premiere on July 18 at 8:50 p.m. KST and will air two consecutive episodes every Friday.
