Just one week into its run, KBS2’s new drama “My Girlfriend is the Man!” already has viewers hooked!
Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, “My Girlfriend is the Man!” is a romantic comedy about a college student whose girlfriend unexpectedly transforms into a man. ASTRO’s Yoon San Ha stars as Park Yoon Jae, an astronomy student who is head over heels for his girlfriend Kim Ji Eun (played by OH MY GIRL’s Arin). Due to a gene that runs in her family, Kim Ji Eun suddenly turns into a handsome man (played by Yoo Jung Hoo) and begins going by the name Kim Ji Hoon.
Here are three reasons why viewers are loving this new rom-com:
1. The cast’s swoon-worthy visuals
It’s impossible not to notice the eye-catching visuals of the drama’s attractive stars. Yoon San Ha’s innocent-looking face brings the charm of his pure-hearted character to life, while Arin’s beauty and dazzling smile fully capture the loveliness of Kim Ji Eun, who is going through a difficult moment in her relationship.
Yoo Jung Hoo is a perfect fit as a dreamboat that makes all the girls around him swoon, while also managing to convincingly embody Ji Eun’s cute and feminine personality. Finally, starting in Episode 3, Chuu will arrive on the scene as Kang Min Joo, the resident “hot girl” of Yeonhee University.
2. The beautiful cinematography
The good-looking cast isn’t the only eye candy on display in “My Girlfriend is the Man!”—another highlight of the drama is its eye-pleasing cinematography. The cute and charming aesthetic of the series perfectly matches the bubbly vibe of its story, and the soft-focus look of the show naturally plays up the romance and fantasy elements.
3. Healing + comedy + romance
Apart from the main love triangle storyline, “My Girlfriend is the Man!” has a lot of diverse plot points to look forward to. In addition to its witty dialogue, the drama also includes a variety of relationships between its characters that are both comic and relatable.
The banter between Kim Ji Hoon and Choi Yoo Ri (Park Ju Won), the heartwarming bond between sisters Ji Eun and Ji Hye (Choi Yoon Ra), and the realistic sibling relationship between Yoon Jae and Yoon Ah (Lee So Won) are all examples of the many different kinds of fun chemistry that spice up this entertaining show.
