While the romance in “My Girlfriend is the Man!” hasn’t fully kicked in yet, the com in this rom-com is definitely serving. Episodes 3 and 4 brought pure chaos that left viewers laughing their lungs out, gasping for air. And I’m not complaining.
From evil Min Joo (Chuu) doing her best to break up our main leads to Ji Hoon (Yoo Jung Hoo) claiming her man by boldly announcing she’s his girlfriend (despite her six-foot-tall, very masculine physique making it a hard sell to his parents), the drama continues to deliver laugh-out-loud moments.
Here are four times “My Girlfriend is the Man!” episodes 3 and 4 made us laugh out loud.

Ji Eun’s sister-using-her-photos-to-brag gone wrong
Kim Ji Hye (Choi Yoon Ra) is the kind of woman many women aspire to be; drop-dead gorgeous, a civil servant with a stable income, and living in a massive house in Seoul. However, as a woman’s worth is still often unfairly tied to their relationship status, our accomplished Ji Hye finds herself scrutinized by her so-called “friends” for being single.
So, in a moment of embarrassment, she lies about her relationship status and shows them photos of Ji Hoon, a.k.a. Ji Eun in her male form, introducing him as her boyfriend. But when the friends don’t buy the story and ask her to call her suspiciously good-looking “boyfriend,” Ji Hye hits the call button, only to be greeted by the pretty lady Ji Eun on the other end.
In any other moment, Ji Hye would have danced with excitement upon hearing her sister’s voice, but now, caught red-handed in a lie, she has no choice but to sink into her seat and mutter that this seems like a phishing scam. Oops.
Mission: rescue Yoon Jae
Episode 3 begins with Ji Eun (OH MY GIRL‘s Arin) being transformed back into her original female body. Later in the episode, when Min Joo invites Yoon Jae (Yoon San Ha) to a club party, the mission becomes clear: Ji Eun will wear her best outfit and show Min Joo exactly who Yoon Jae belongs with.
With her basic-but-always-rocks outfit and a face card that never fails, she’s prepared for a showdown, until the one thing she least expected happens. She turns into a man again! Desperate, she calls Yoon Jae to explain, but it’s Min Joo who picks up the phone and immediately tries to create a misunderstanding between our main leads. Still, Ji Hoon doesn’t back down. She heads straight to the club and pulls off a successful mission: rescuing a nearly blackout-drunk Yoon Jae. And that’s when the funny part begins.
Ji Hoon takes Yoon Jae home, only to be greeted by his parents and his sister (Lee So Won), who is absolutely committed to recording every single second of drunk and sappy Yoon Jae. But amid the chaos, a wholesome moment sneaks in: Yoon Jae’s sister, who mistakenly believes her brother is gay and in love with Ji Hoon, tells him, “It’s hard to stay sober in this world, oppa.”
She may be completely off about the situation, but her heart is most definitely in the right place.
Doctor calling for a psychiatric evaluation
After Ji Hoon and Yoon Jae finally come to terms with her re-re-transformation, Ji Hoon suggests they break up for good, since she doesn’t know when-or-if she’ll become a woman again. But Yoon Jae confesses that he doesn’t want that. According to him, just because her transformation happens overnight doesn’t mean his love for her can disappear just as fast.
So, the two decide to remain friends. Friends who game together. Friends who bring each other food. In other words, Ji Hoon cooks a hearty meal for Yoon Jae’s presentation and delivers it to his university. And even though he had already been eating lunch with Min Joo, he devours every last bite of Ji Hoon’s homemade lunchbox. It all looks sweet and romantic, until the scene transitions to night and we find out Yoon Jae has fainted… from indigestion. Ouch.
Min Joo brings Yoon Jae to the hospital, but of course, she cannot act normally for even a second. She tells Yoon Jae’s parents that she’s his girlfriend, or, in every K-pop company’s words, “We’re getting to know each other.”
Thankfully, Ji Hoon arrives just in time to defend both Yoon Jae and her own relationship status by announcing to everyone that he is his girlfriend. Cue the chaos.
Ji Eun’s impression of a man’s apartment
What do you imagine when you think of a bachelor’s apartment? For some, it’s the mental image of a messy disaster. For others, it’s a space filled with stereotypical “man cave” décor. But for Ji Hoon? It’s a third more diabolical option.
After inviting Yoon Jae and Min Hyuk (Hyun Jun) over for dinner, Ji Hoon begins “masculinizing” her apartment. She brings out the big guns, Driver’s Magazine, which is just one step above a car instruction manual, sprays enough men’s cologne around the house to cause lung failure, and strategically places clean men’s underwear around like Easter eggs.
Well, at least it fools Min Hyuk, so that’s a job well done.
While the entirety of episodes 3 and 4 was packed with air-gasping, laugh-out-loud moments, one thing has become crystal clear: Yoon Jae is falling for Ji Hoon. And the biggest proof? He can’t help but get jealous every time Min Hyuk or Yu Ri (Park Joo Won) gets a little too close to her.
