“Omniscient Reader” has shared a new commentary video feature behind-the-scenes footage!
Based on the popular web novel of the same name, “Omniscient Reader” will tell the story of Kim Dok Ja (Ahn Hyo Seop), who suddenly finds himself living in the world of a fantasy novel he was reading. Armed with the knowledge of what happened in the novel, Kim Dok Ja sets out to save the world from ending. Lee Min Ho stars as Yoo Joong Hyuk, the protagonist from the novel that Kim Dok Ja read.
The newly released film commentary video gives insight into the creation of the film, the direction, and the passion of the production team and cast. REALIES Pictures CEO Won Dong Yeon shares, “The moment I came across the novel ‘Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint,’ I thought that [it would be great] to make this story a reality.” Director Kim Byung Woo comments that he felt charmed by the interactive story, stating, “If the audience can align emotionally with the characters, it would be a perfect fit for a movie experience.”
The director continues, “Since all the various episodes are interesting, the most important point was making this into a story with a sense of unity.” CEO Won Dong Yeon mentions that they first saw the novel before the webtoon version was even released and that they prioritized preserving the world-building, characters, and core message that the original author wanted to convey while approaching the film.
Director Kim Byung Woo further hints at the appearance of the “sponsors” who will lend great help to the characters in times of need as well as the characters’ signature weapons. The director concludes that all the viewers have to do is “get on” the subway, while the movie will do the rest in delivering entertainment.
