Actor Song Young Kyu, who left a strong impression as Chief Choi in the film “Extreme Job,” has passed away at the age of 52.
On August 4, Yongin Dongbu Police Station in Gyeonggi province confirmed that Song Young Kyu was discovered deceased inside a car in a residential complex in Yongin of Gyeonggi province at around 8 a.m. KST by an acquaintance, who then reported it to the authorities. Police stated that there were no signs of foul play nor was any note found at the scene.
Currently, the police are investigating the exact circumstances of his death and recent events by questioning his family and are also considering whether to conduct an autopsy.
Previously on June 19, Song Young Kyu was caught driving under the influence for about 5 kilometers in Yongin, where his home was located, and was referred to the prosecution.
News of Song Young Kyu’s drunk driving incident became public about a month after the event, and the actor stepped down from his role in the play “Shakespeare In Love.” In addition, “The Defects” and “The Winning Try” had announced their decisions to edit out his scenes as much as possible.
