Upcoming drama “My Lovely Journey” has unveiled a glimpse of the emotional reunion between exes Gong Seung Yeon and Baekho!
Based on a bestselling Japanese novel by Maha Harada, “My Lovely Journey” follows Kang Yeo Reum (Gong Seung Yeon), a former idol-turned-travel reporter who has never been the center of attention in her life. As she takes on travel assignments on behalf of others, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery, coming to understand the true meaning of success and life.
Newly released stills capture a surprise encounter between Kang Yeo Reum and Cha Si Wan (Baekho), each other’s first love and former flame. In one photo, Si Wan appears in a sharp suit, flashing a relaxed smile. But in the next, his expression hardens as he freezes at the sight of Yeo Reum—hinting at a wave of unresolved emotions between them.
Yeo Reum was once a member of the girl group Flower and now works as a travel reporter on a lifestyle show. Though often dismissed as a “background member,” she endured quietly for the sake of her dreams. After the group disbanded, she weathered years of obscurity and is now the only remaining celebrity at her agency, Ogu Entertainment. While she appears optimistic, beneath the surface lies a quiet storm of anxiety and frustration—a reflection of a young woman navigating the weight of reality.
Si Wan, on the other hand, has reinvented himself from a top idol into one of the most in-demand actors of his generation. Though he and Yeo Reum once started from the same place, their paths have diverged dramatically, making their reunion all the more awkward and emotionally charged.
Later, when Yeo Reum is back at home, she stares at her phone with a troubled expression, suggesting that their encounter has left a deeper impact than she expected. Another image shows her covering her face with both arms, overwhelmed by emotion. What unresolved history lingers between these two, and how will their story unfold?
“My Lovely Journey” premieres on August 2 at 9:20 p.m. KST and will be available on Viki.
