MBC’s new variety show “I’m Sunny Thank You” (literal title) has announced its premiere plans!
“I’m Sunny Thank You” reunites the beloved cast of the 2011 film “Sunny” for a heartwarming journey of friendship. Like the movie’s story of seven friends reconnecting after years apart, the show will capture the candid and touching moments of the “Sunny” cast as they meet again.
The original “Sunny” cast includes Shim Eun Kyung, Kang Sora, Kim Min Young, Kim Bo Mi, Park Jin Joo, Nam Bo Ra, and Min Hyo Rin. MBC previously shared that while some members filmed overseas in April, others who couldn’t join due to personal reasons will still take part in different ways.
The first confirmed cast member of “I’m Sunny Thank You” is Kang Sora, who left a lasting impression in “Sunny” as the charismatic Chun Hwa.
The production team shared, “Our program will follow the ‘Sunny’ seven princesses as they embark on a friendship trip themed around ‘the reunion of true friends who have since gone on to live their own lives.’ The ‘Sunny’ cast members didn’t hesitate to say yes to the project. We’re confident this will be a visually delightful travel variety show that also touches hearts with its themes of friendship and nostalgia. We hope viewers will look forward to it.”
Meanwhile, according to media reports, “I’m Sunny Thank You” will take place in Guangxi, China, with ZEROBASEONE’s Zhang Hao also making an appearance.
A show representative confirmed to Ilgan Sports, “It’s true that Zhang Hao will appear on ‘I’m Sunny Thank You.’ While he isn’t one of the main cast members, he’ll play a key role in bringing energy to the show.”
