Disney+’s upcoming series “Low Life” has unveiled character stills of TVXQ’s Yunho, Lee Sang Jin, and Kim Min!
Based on a webtoon, “Low Life” is a crime drama set in 1977 that follows a group of down-on-their-luck country folks as they chase after a sunken treasure ship beneath the sea.
Yunho transforms into Beol Gu, a flashy gangster from Mokpo who is all style and bravado. Though his character has a fiery temper and tends to use his fists first, he also exudes a rugged human charm. In the still, Beol Gu captivates with his long, styled hair and confident pose, showcasing his raw charisma. Yunho shared, “This drama realistically shows how far humans can go to the extreme.”
Lee Sang Jin plays Na Dae Sik, a clumsy country bumpkin scouted by Mokpo’s Boss Song (Kim Jong Soo). Lee Sang Jin explained, “I thought he shouldn’t look purely nice, so I contemplated what kind of darkness Dae Sik could show,” hinting at a layered portrayal of a seemingly kind man who changes after experiencing unexpected events. In his still, Dae Sik’s sharp gaze suggests tension, raising curiosity about what lies ahead.
Making her grand debut in this drama, Kim Min plays Seon Ja, a tearoom waitress who dreams of escaping to Seoul. Beating intense competition to land the role unanimously chosen by judges, Kim Min shared, “Every morning, I played videos of Jeolla dialect as soon as I woke up to practice,” showing her dedication to fully immerse herself in the role. In the still, Seon Ja’s downcast gaze and quiet presence leave a lasting impression, raising curiosity about what lies ahead for this lone figure of innocence within the series’ gritty world.
The 11-episode run of “Low Life” begins July 16 with three episodes, followed by two episodes each on July 23, July 30, August 6, and August 13.
