Xdinary Heroes’ Jun Han has shared a handwritten letter of apology for recent remarks that he made on bubble.
On June 29 KST, Jun Han came under fire for a series of messages that he sent on the fan communication platform bubble. While discussing the topic of genetic research, Jun Han wrote, “I heard that black people have a lot of cells in their ears, so their hearing is good, and that’s why they’re good at music. I was really envious. Would it be possible to bring together the advantages of different races, [like] white people’s exceptional ability to break down sugar, black people’s physical abilities, and the brainpower of yellow and Indian people?”
Later that day, both Jun Han and JYP Entertainment issued separate apologies regarding the messages in question.
Jun Han’s handwritten letter is as follows:
Hello, this is Xdinary Heroes’ Jun Han.
First, I sincerely apologize for causing many people a great deal of hurt and discomfort through my thoughtless remarks.
I have realized that what I said contained biased views, and I am deeply reflecting on it. Once again, I bow my head in deep apology to everyone who felt hurt or uncomfortable because of my lack of historical knowledge, social awareness, and sensitivity. In the future, I will continue to ceaselessly learn and grow so that I can act based on accurate knowledge.
Additionally, I will take this incident as an opportunity to be more careful with each and every one of my words and actions, as well as to act with a greater sense of responsibility. Once again, I sincerely apologize.
Meanwhile, JYP Entertainment released the following statement:
