SBS’s upcoming comedy sports drama “The Winning Try” has teased the chemistry between Yoon Kye Sang and Im Se Mi!
“The Winning Try” tells the story of Joo Ga Ram (Yoon Kye Sang), a former rugby star who falls from grace due to a doping scandal. Years later, he returns to his alma mater as the new coach of its bottom-ranked high school rugby team and leads the underdog squad on a quest to win the National Sports Festival.
Once a standout in South Korea’s rugby scene, Joo Ga Ram resurfaces after a three-year absence to take the reins as head coach at Hanyang Physical Education High School, shaking things up. He is also the ex-boyfriend of Bae Yi Ji (Im Se Mi), the shooting team’s player coach. His unexpected return after three years shakes her world.
The newly released stills below capture the tense reunion between Joo Ga Ram and Bae Yi Ji, two people bound by a connection from the past. Joo Ga Ram greets her with a bright smile and a raised hand, while Bae Yi Ji, clearly stunned by his sudden reappearance, reacts with visible shock. Her trembling gaze hints at deep lingering emotions.
The situation quickly shifts, and the stark contrast in facial expressions between the reunited exes brings a comedic touch. Filled with anger, Bae Yi Ji levels a gun at Joo Ga Ram. In response, he ducks behind a whiteboard, peeking out with just his head, showcasing his mischievous charm. Viewers are curious to find out the reason Bae Yi Ji is pointing a gun at him in the first place.
The production team remarked, “The reunion romance between Yoon Kye Sang and Im Se Mi will be one of the main elements of the series. Please stay tuned as we plan to present, in a lighthearted way, the story behind their dramatic reunion after three years—complete with a gun—and how their relationship evolves after meeting again at Hanyang Physical Education High School.”
“The Winning Try” premieres on July 25 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
